The Poppy by: Habibah
A red innocent flower A symbol for veterans that protected the towers That protected people from terror An attack on our sovereignty Who took an oath to protect liberty They fought bravely They won the battle but lost their phyce Developing PTSD Having depression Leading to suicidal ideation To take the jump to realization Lost nights of peaceful sleep Battling on the front lines taking the leap The ultimate sacrifice for their homeland Always remembered in memorial Their sacrifice won't be in vane As long as we remember with a Poppy in hand They are the life blood that flows through this land That keep pillers of this nation standing high As the flag dominates the skyline The stars and stripes a testament to longevity A day to remember the Honorable men that left families We honor their sacrifice through seromony We embrace their sacrifice through harmony A Poppy for their heroic sacrifice A Poppy to etch into memory We honor them throughout this country
