The Pigeon
There is a lot of pigeons around where I live, to be honest there seems like a lot of pigeons everywhere. However there is one pigeon, it’s a large wood pigeon, and every evening during the summer, it flies up and lands on the street lamp. It’s quite high up there, it’s almost as if it plans it, like it’s a part of a daily routine, maybe a ritual. It stands for a while looking down, and looking towards the warm, summer sunset sky, with the odd lazy cloud, you know the kind of skies after a long hot day. Then it prunes it’s feathers, and stretches it’s wings, all the time looking around. It stays for ages, and it’s always alone. I think I shall call it lofty, since it loves to sit in high places.
