The Pen is Mightier
"you have such talent!" They're trying to encourage me "Such a way with words, you should write a book!" "What of?" I ask No response To be a published author My childhood dream I thought I'd write tales from my imagination Where did my fantasies disappear to? They died day, so very long ago Forever changed, against my will Against all my hopes and wishes You took that from me Now I lay awake at night trying to force my mind to forget your face My dreams became nightmares my goals became unworthy my writing isn't for their eyes anymore It's mine, and mine alone We went from fairytales to horror From daydreams to pepper spray how could I ever write that? Never. I cannot begin to describe, I could not subject anyone to that behavior Now they question why I left their building Fear won't let me say I'm not protecting you I'm protecting them But maybe I shall write, just not in extent After all, all knights are afraid of the dragon they just have the courage to face it I'm not a knight Just a coward with a pen But you know how the saying goes you'd better sharpen your sword
