The Peacock Paradox
The Peacock Paradox by Jack A.S. Dunce A bird that left wise men puzzled With its gaudy feathers That serves no purpose but beauty -- Beyond Darwin's tethers. Its tail sticks out like a sore thumb: Attracting wolves and hawks; Too cumbersome to give an edge In foraging grain stalks. Conspicuous plastered posters With saccharine simpers Reminds me of these garish birds -- life's overachievers. With just a name, a smiling face, And nothing of value, These posters portend a future That's very much askew. When based on these empty posters, And beauty is merit, The choice we cast on them will be The blight we'll inherit. --🏵️-- ©️pgmr 02/23/2025
