The Path
The Path by Jack A.S. Dunce It's been said that we each walk a path by choice, by chance or both -- no one's sure Some trailblaze, others stick to a marked footpath One proven to be most true and secure I thought I took one such well trodden route, clear, paved, straight and direct -- an open highway I walked with others with the same pursuit I took a wrong turn, I became astray I found myself on some obscure allée Tall weeds overrun the cobblestone road My ears were caught by the buzz of a bee A place were time seemed to not have flowed Convinced that it was not the path I chose; it's certainly not one followed by most Retraced my steps back to the road most knows I'm back on track but I feel truly lost ©️pgmr 08/23/2024
