The Only Rock That Glimmers
Conjoined twins of souls Two embers of the same fire Extinguished by the wind And shredded by the liars We follow our own currents Until our skin can again kiss I know you and I'll see you Until I can finally focus We both hear the singing When the woman speaks in tongues And you tuck my hair behind my ear When I'm all down and wrung My eyes meet yours And my heart is taken through the rapids But I can't tell you how I feel And my eyes fall flaccid You're the only Rock in the river that glimmers I pick it up, I can feel you merge into me Only now, the rock is scintillating And my left eye feels as if it'll bleed
