the one who stayed
i kept telling myself i was fine that i didn’t need more that the way my girl treated me was something i could swallow something i could survive but somewhere in the quiet i cracked and she walked in right through that crack all fire all want the kind of heat that’s easy to blame but wasn’t really the point yeah she was wild but she also saw me the me that was tired the me that felt small the me that didn’t know what to hold on to she stayed in the moments everyone else would’ve dipped when i was a mess when i wasn’t worth the trouble when i didn’t even like myself she stayed and i kept pretending it was just a thing just two bodies just a temporary escape until i realized my mind kept drifting her way long after the nights ended i didn’t fall for the lust i fell for the calm she brought when everything in my life felt loud now she’s gone and i can feel the space she used to fill it’s strange how someone who wasn’t mine still feels like a missing piece i’ve been with people before too many chapters too many names but she’s the one my thoughts keep circling back to maybe it’s wrong maybe it’s messy but it’s real and in the quiet hours i still catch myself missing the girl who wasn’t supposed to stay but somehow did.
