the night unfolded
The night stretched endlessly, a vigil without end, And after moonlit hours, dawn eventually broke. Yet, why did you manifest only in a dream? No questions were posed, no answers given— Just a fleeting vision, and my sight became blurred. Was the rain so intense that My voice failed to reach you? I stood there, drenched and desolate, As shops closed and lights dimmed, A pervasive sense of emptiness shrouded the day. The morning felt distant and uninviting— Did noon transition to dusk so swiftly, Or had I lost my way? Fear gripped my heart, with no solace in sight, I forgot the essence of my own existence. No sound, no indication, Just an internal tremor of unease, And a multitude of questions. The soft murmurs of the breeze whispered gently, While birds played in the open air, But suddenly, mosquitoes launched their assault— First on my hands, then my feet, and my back. Their relentless bite caused me to feel faint. In that instant, pain surged through my back, And an inexplicable chill enveloped me. When I finally opened my eyes, I discovered myself beneath the bed.
