The nature of Time
How I wish I could have you in abundance, How I wish I could forge with you a strong alliance. Yet all my efforts to call you a friend, You return with no sign of acceptance. It was quite late, but I finally realized: You are a friend to those who learn to manage you, An enemy to those who strive to cage you. You are the companion all men are destined to walk with. Those who handle you with care and wisdom Are the ones who reap lasting profit. To some, you allot heavy burdens and trials. To others, you bestow unexplainable favor, abundance, and riches. But I am not surprised For all I know is this: I must redeem you constantly, And never let you slip away.
