The mouth
There are no synonyms for this kind of silence I did not speak today Words, like plants, Need light. I've been kept in a cupboard too long. Last night, I dreamt of a house Without doors. Each room led back to me. I tried to escape By sleeping deeper. They say life goes on. but no one says What happens to the ones Who don’t. There is a kind of sadness That doesn’t make noise It just sits Like a coat You forgot to take off, Even in summer. The pages are tired of me. Each line another failed negotiation With being. Sometimes I imagine Peeling my shadow off the wall, Folding it neatly, And leaving it behind On the balcony, For the rain to carry it away.
