The Monster Within
In shadows deep, a truth concealed, A transformation ever revealed. Within the depths of my own soul, A monster lurks, it takes control. Once a gentle heart, now filled with rage, A tempest unleashed, trapped in a cage. The darkness seeps, consumes my being, A creature born from wounds unseen. In twisted dreams, I start to change, My skin turns rough, my features estranged. Sharp fangs emerge, hungry and wild, The monster within, now undefiled. My eyes, once warm, now cold as ice, Reflect the horror, the sacrifice. I am no longer who I used to be, A monster roams where once stood me. The world recoils, afraid and unsure, As I embrace the monstrous allure. Yet deep inside, a plea remains, To break these chains, to ease the pains. For though I am a monster, it's true, A sliver of humanity still shines through. In moments quiet, I long for release, To find solace, to find some peace. But until that day, I prowl and roam, A monster's heart, a monster's home. In this free verse, my story unfurled, A beast trapped within, longing for the world.
