The monster under my bed
when I was small i always believed in the monster under my bed but I was never scared because if he wanted to stay under my bed then he must want to be my friend I never had many friends so it made sense to search for the one under my bed I imagine him fluffy with soft fur I wanted to hug him not run I never thought the monster under my bed was scary until he crawled into my head then suddenly the fluffy fur I imagined turned into a hateful ball of black the monster in my head consumed my brain feeding on my every thought nothing was happy I could try and remember the time when me and my mom went to go get ice cream but the monster that was once under my bed but is now in my head reminds me we only went for ice cream to escape the cold words of my dad nothing was safe and I understood the fear of my sister once had when she begged my mom to look under the bed for monsters and to open our closet door but the monster I have is not the kind you can defeat by turning on the light the monster under my bed crawled into my head and poisoned my every thought now i can't escape him for he follows me everywhere I go
