the monster in my head
depression reminds me of a monster, one disguised as a hug. it wraps itself around you and it feels oddly comforting. you dont feel alone. but the hug gets tighter like its suffocating you, like its trying to become you. and you fight and you scream and you cry like youre fighting for your life. but no one sees. the monster covers it up. it gives you a face. and after a while you give up. not because you want to, but because you have no other choice. youre tired. the monster wins. and finally, it becomes you.
