The Missing Piece
But duty binds me, a relentless, cruel decree, To this gilded cage, far across the sea. Each night I gaze upon the distant stars, And pray for dawn, to break these iron bars. For what good is glory, what worth this earthly gain, If the one I cherish lives a life of pain? My heart remains tethered, a compass pointing true, To the love that sustains me, the love I long to pursue. Though mountains may divide us, and oceans may roar, My soul will seek her, forevermore. For she is the missing piece, the answer to my plea, The love that sets me free, the love that completes me.
