The Mirror
I remember the day the heavens fell, The sun went black and cold. It was in the calm, after the storm, Where the truth began to unfold. The ruins of my world, scattered beneath my feet-- All things that had once shimmered like gold, I now see, were only cheap plastic and plated with deceit. Although I could hear my own heart still beating, It sounded hollow and out of tune. And how the night, became even darker, even with a sea stars...as you were, my night light, you were my moon. Yet, your love was merely a reflection, that couldn't be any clearer-- And now I see the beauty of my own heart, Because, I now understand, that I AM the mirror.
