The Mind's Dance
The mind, it whispers "maybe," A tender voice that sways, It tells us "do" then falters, It shifts and moves, it stays. It plants the seed of comfort, In a cozy, cushioned chair, And though the springs are broken, We linger, still ensnared. The fear of change consumes us, What if we leap and fall? What if we break this chair of ours, And cannot fix it at all? Yet still, the mind says "do it," It whispers "take the chance," But doubts rise up to greet us, In a hesitant dance. For if it all goes sideways, What wounds might we bear? But if we stay, unmoving, Will life meet us there? We grow and swell in silence, Confined in our old space, And though the world is calling, We hesitate to face. The mind, it gives us reasons, It tells us to delay, Yet change will never find us, If we always choose to stay. Faith may be as vast as oceans, Or as small as drops that fall, But nothing shifts the waters, If we do not move at all. So rise up from that comfort, Though fear may cloud your view, For only in the stepping, Does change become true.
