The me Era :
I did that. I played the role they said I was born for. Marriage material , ride or die, the one who holds it all together. I was loyal when it wasn't reciprocated , kind when it wasn't deserved. And patient when it left me depleted. I stayed on my best behaviour, bit my tongue when I had every right to speak. I shrunk myself to fit into spaces , that didn't honour the fullness of my being. I gave love so pure, so whole , to someone who didn't know what to do with it. And yet ,they couldn't see me, couldn't cherish me, couldn't rise to meet the energy I poured out. I was overqualified for a role. that didn't even come with appreciation.🥀🌹
