The Masquerade
Everything I do and everything I say Is all just to appease the masquerade. So I dance upon the stage, a puppet on display, A master of illusion, hiding my true shade, For I am the actor, the jester, the charade, Performing for an audience that demands to be swayed. I wear a mask of confidence, of unwavering poise, A facade carefully crafted, a shield I deploy. Hidden beneath my skin, a secret I pretend, A world of doubts and fears, I strive to suspend. As I dance and I sway, Like a marionette on strings, Deceiving them all with my practiced flings. Even though deep in my heart, I long to break free, To tear off this mask and let my true self be. But I can't For In this realm of make-believe, I am confined, Bound by the expectations of a world unkind. Each step I take, each word I utter, Is carefully crafted, like a spell I mutter. For the show must go on, the masquerade persists, So I play my role, concealing my clenched fists. For they desire the fantasy, the illusion I create, Not the fragments of truth that lie in wait. Because In this realm of pretense, I reside, A prisoner of masks, my true self denied. WickedAsh. (Never hide who you are just be yourself and you will go far)
