The mask of indifference
In the shadows, I reside A fleeting thought, a moment's pride But soon forgotten, left behind The echoes of rejection, a haunting mind I wear the mask of indifference A shield to guard my tender sense Of being overlooked, passed by A whispered doubt that I deny The art of not being chosen, I refine A skill honed sharp, a heart of mine I learn to let go, to move on fast To find solace in the silence that will last In this quiet space, I find my voice A whispered truth, a heartfelt choice To rise above the sting of pain To find my worth, despite the rejection's refrain Perhaps someday, I'll be seen My value recognized, my worth gleaned But till then, I'll master this art The art of not being chosen, a heavy heart.
