The Man I Became
I changed my ways, I fixed my sins, Tore apart the boy within. Built myself from shattered stone, To be the man you'd call your own. I softened words, I tamed my fire, Molded myself to your desire. Became the shadow of your dream, But love still slipped right through the seams. I let go of the past I knew, Hoping I’d be enough for you. But even when I stood so tall, You never meant to catch my fall. I held on tight, I begged to stay, Yet love should never be that way. A love that bends and breaks to fit, Is one that’s bound to fall and split. Now here I kneel, lost once again, A man I changed, but not for him. For love that asks for you to fade, Is love that should have never stayed
