The man from the street
He strummed the guitar, the man from the street The unkempt beard and hat gave a handsome look Everyone marveled at the skill and sound But he sang with a deep connection It was a mantra for his life Sometimes people laugh with you Praise you and love you But they can't see the terrible pain in your eyes The sorrow in your voice, in the song The eyes are the window to the soul It was uncomfortable to watch, and yet strangely compelling The claps at the end meant nothing to him Had they really missed the cry, the signs, crys for help Old before his time, weary from the world already After the claps, time to return to the cold streets The man from the street The man from the street The man from the street I hope you find a place to sleep Where the roads are no longer to steep
