The Love That Never Returned
They said, what you give, you shall receive, A circle of fate, a promise to believe. I poured my love, pure and true, Yet all I got was pain from you. I gave my heart, I gave my soul, Made you my world, my only goal. Yet in return, the nights grew cold, Echoes of love turned bitter, old. Was it a lie, this tale they spun? That love comes back when it is done? Or was I a fool to ever assume, That hearts don’t break when given room? Yet still, I love, I cannot change, Even if loss feels cruel, strange. For love is not just give and take, It’s the fire we bear, the pain we make.
