The Love That Never Came
I searched for love in quiet nights, In whispered winds and city lights. I traced it in the stars above, But never in my parents love. Their voices sharp, their hearts so cold, A warmth I craved but never told. A touch, a smile, a word so kind Yet none of these were mine to find. I grew in shadows, learned to hide, Buried pain deep down inside. Told myself it wasn't real, That love was something I could steal. But stolen love is never true, It fades like mist in morning dew. And so I stand, still wanting more, A child unloved, forever sore. Yet in the dark, I light a flame, A love for me- I own my name. For if they won't, then I must see, The love I need is born in me
