The little things
A raindrop landed on my nose Then slid down past my chin and toes I laughed so loud the sky laughed too The clouds broke open bright and blue A ladybug climbed on my hand I didn’t move I let it stand It paused as if to say You see Even the tiniest things feel free A breeze came by and messed my hair I didn’t mind it danced with care It carried scents of toast and rain And whispered Joy can bloom from plain A child ran past with muddy shoes She left behind her giggle’s clues I followed not with hurried feet But with a heart that skipped a beat The world is loud with goals and speed But quiet things are what we need A smile a crumb a patch of light They stitch the soul back into flight So when the day feels far too long And nothing seems to quite go on Just stop look down and let it be The little things will set you free
