The Last Of Me
I am the spark that cracks the air, the reason peace is never there. I breathe and walls begin to shake, I speak and something has to break. I never asked to hold this weight, to be the key that twists to hate. They tell me, choose—your heart or ties, but both are graves where silence dies. I try to love, I try to stay, but every word gets in the way. I try to bend, I try to cope, yet all I do is kill the hope. Half of me stands, the other falls, I bruise both sides, I break the walls. Their care for me ignites the fight, I pray for dark instead of light. Let me be on my own, I don't want to be called home. That word’s a chain, it makes me choke, so cut it loose before I’m broke. I want to rest, not be in pieces, to end this pull that never ceases. So when I’m gone, don’t act surprised, don’t look for guilt in someone’s eyes. I never wanted, never was, a hero—only just the cause. And if my silence makes you free, then here it is— the last of me.
