The investigator
In shadows deep, a detective once renowned, With sharp deductive skills, his name renowned. But now, a specter of his former self, forlorn, He's lost his job, and in despair, is torn. His trench coat, once a symbol of his might, Hangs heavy now, devoid of guiding light. The mysteries he solved, the cases closed tight, Now haunt his dreams throughout the endless night. His office, once a hub of whispered tales, Now echoes with the sound of creaking rails. The dusty files, the unanswered calls, A life unraveled, like a thread that falls. He stares into his glass, where whiskey flows, Seeking solace in the amber's warm repose. But memories of cases and the truths he'd find, Are ghosts that linger, haunting his weary mind. In solitude, he wanders through the rain, The streets of noir, his only true domain. A detective lost, in shadows he remains, Seeking redemption from life's cruel disdain. But hope may still reside within his heart, A spark of purpose, a chance for a fresh start. For even in the darkest of despair, A detective's spirit may yet repair.
