The Hunger for Love
I lay here in the silence of the night, Surrounded by things that should bring delight, Yet none can fill the hollow inside, A hunger for love, I cannot hide. The world is full, yet I feel so bare, Chasing shadows, gasping for air. The love I need, the love I crave, Seems locked away, too far to save. Every thought, a longing plea, For a woman who could set me free. But life, in its cruel, endless fight, Holds us captive, steals our light. The hunger gnaws, a silent scream, A death within a waking dream. Each breath I take, each step I roam, Leads me further from a place called home. The love I seek, I cannot touch, Though I yearn for it, so much. A fleeting glimpse of what could be, Yet bound by chains I cannot see. Love’s true form, a distant guide, A flame that flickers, then subsides. And still, I hunger, still I fight, For love that seems just out of sight.
