THE HANGMAN'S DOUBT.
The sun is up over the courtyard, the hangman is reluctant to get up The hangman braces himself for another hard day at work Though with doubt and uncertainty in his heart The muffled cries he hears all day through Ring in his mind all night too He blames them for their felonies If only they stopped with their atrocities They would set him free From the ghoul and guilt within Mayhaps one day he would live unbound When would the noose go loose? But the hangman has one question One of redemption or condemnation For all the lives he had taken Would he be held accountable in heaven And doomed to eternal damnation?
