The great deception
*Love’s a lie, a cruel jest, A dagger hidden in the breast, It whispers sweet in hollow ears, Then feeds on all your darkest fears. A fleeting touch, a poisoned kiss, A serpent’s hiss in lover’s bliss, Deceit wrapped in a warm embrace, A mask that hides a hollow face.* *Fools are those who dare to trust, In love’s deceit, in heart’s own rust, They chase the dream, they chase the flame, Only to be burned in shame. Blind to the truth that lurks beneath, A thorny crown in love’s false wreath, They fall for smiles that rot with time, For words that wither, lose their rhyme.* *In love’s cruel game, we play the pawn, A sacrifice before the dawn, Of shattered hopes and broken dreams, In love’s illusion, nothing’s as it seems. So laugh, sweet fools, in love’s dark thrall, For in the end, we’re doomed to fall, In empty arms and hollow lies, Where love, the greatest lie, resides.* *Let not your heart be fooled again, By love’s false charm, by love’s cold feign, For in the end, it’s all but dust, A fleeting thrill, a shattered trust.*
