The Girl Who Looks Away
I see you, standing just beyond the reach Of words I’ll never say. Your gaze is a whisper that slips through my hands, A fleeting shadow, always walking away. You move through the world like a breeze through a dream— Soft, untouchable, gone. Every glance you avoid feels like a silent scream That echoes long after the dawn. I catch the flicker of you in the corner of my eye, But when I turn, you’re not there. You dodge me like sunlight beneath storm-heavy skies, Like something too fragile to share. I wonder if you notice the way my heart bends Each time you vanish from view, Like the moon pulling tides that will never reach shore— Forever aching, always chasing you. You bury yourself in a garden of distance, Where walls bloom tall between us. I water my hope like a fool in the rain, Though your silence still bruises and stuns. But here I remain, in the spaces you leave— Where love waits, patient and still. Not to catch you, not to bind you— Just to love you, if you will.
