The Girl in White 🤍
We grew from the soil of the same childhood days, Hand in hand through the years, through the haze. I held onto you, though I didn't know why, While the truth was hidden beneath a lie. I was scared of the words that I wanted to speak, So I told myself lies, foolish and weak. I thought that my heart belonged to another, And failed to see you were more than a lover. But you slipped away before the exams could start, Leaving a winter that froze round my heart. Now the cold breeze blows, and the seasons roll on, And I finally know what I had—now it’s gone. It was you, only you. Now I see through the blur, In the shape of a clover, I remember her. No matter how hard I might try to forget, I find a strange joy in this deep regret. Are you looking at me from the heavens above? Do you finally know of this late, quiet love? I’ve told not a soul, kept the secret profound, Just a quiet heart’s ache that makes not a sound. I must face this world, though I walk it alone, But I’ve made a decision that’s carved into stone. You may not be here in the physical frame, But your soul is the fire that keeps alight my flame. I will keep every memory, I’ll cherish the sting, And grow from the peace that your spirit will bring.
