The Ghost in the Machine
A screen lit up, a gym post shown, A girl I barely knew, yet felt so known. We talked of weights, of sets and reps, Then late night chats, soft whispers, gentle steps. From strangers passing, almost missed, To friends confiding, a love I couldn't resist. She loved the iron, the burn, the gain, Just like me, easing the daily strain. We built a world, inside the phone, Sharing joy and burdens, never alone. Perfect, I thought, a match so rare, A love unspoken, hanging in the air. Then silence fell, a chilling breeze, A distance growing, bringing me to my knees. I tried to mend, to understand, But her heart wandered, back to a forgotten land. She said she missed, a love that used to be, A ghost she chased, that wasn't meant for me. A year has passed, the screen still glows, With memories flickering, of how our story goes. A silly gym post, a connection so bright, Now just a shadow, fading in the night. I wait, I hope, a foolish, stubborn plea, That someday, maybe, she'll come back to me. -thrazon's
