The Gap Between
Sometimes it’s not that they don’t care. They do. You can feel it. But caring and showing up are two different muscles. One works on emotion. The other needs practice. A lot of people feel deeply but live loosely. They mean what they say, they just don’t know how to carry it daily. And you start asking yourself, Why does this feel so hard if the love is real? Maybe it’s not a love problem. Maybe it’s a capacity problem. They want you, but they don’t have the tools, the rhythm or the self-awareness to hold you well. Affection is easy. Consistency asks more. It asks for discipline, honesty, and the courage to change old patterns. Some people were never taught how to turn feelings into action. So they try to love you with good intentions and empty follow-through. And that hurts, not because they didn’t want you, but because wanting isn’t the same as being able. So no, you’re not asking for too much. You’re just asking for something they may not have the capacity to give. And that truth is quiet, but it’s heavy.
