The Future

A place of amazing yet terrifying things Despite attempts to control it It holds no care for your wishes or plans Instead bringing forth the most unexpected Some say this is why life is interesting Why life is worth living Yet to others It proves nothing more than a worry A worry for if you will be happy or sad A worry for what the future holds Thinking of the future is stressful too So many choices to make So many things you might miss out on One can get lost in the future Yet the future doesn't exist without the present And only thinking of the future leads to nothing but stress and sadness For you aren't living in the now You are living for a future self A future self who can enjoy life Yet when that future self becomes the now That self thinks of the future too Leaving no time for joy No time to live
