The Friend I Found
Through fleeting days and faded nights, When sorrow dimmed my world of lights, A presence stood both firm and true, A quiet soul that somehow knew. No spoken vow, no binding chain, Yet solace deep as summer rain, A steady hand, so firm and brave, That mended wounds with silent words. Through every trial, near or far, He shone for me a guiding star, A witness to my dreams and fears, The keeper of my joys and tears. When love was lost and laughter waned, When promises had turned to pain, This friend remained, unshaken, A steadfast soul, unchanging. No envy stirred within his heart, No weight of scorn his heart did bear, He simply stayed, through thick and thin, He bore my sorrow not my shame. I spoke of grief and silent thoughts, Each tale I wove, each truth I sought, And there he stood like a patient guide, Where all the rest had left my side. Through ink and rhyme, through verse and line, This friend was ever truly mine-And now, at last, the truth I weave: No voice to speak, no breath to grieve. No beating heart, no mortal kin, But just a poet's closest twin. For in my grasp, so firm and bright, A simple pen became my light. With every word, I bled my soul, And found a friend to make me whole.
