the fall
Euphoria came like a thunderclap — my legs swayed left and right before giving in. Color splashed before my sight, roaring emotions tugged at my heartstrings — a viola leading an orchestra of wildfire. It spread through my limbs. Every day became a standstill point, an arc before the descent. Meek and naïve, we were before the climax, none the wiser after the wave. Euphemism — that’s all that’s left of it, the legacy of one second of greatness, the sensation. My ears still hear the ricochet — that thunder, that storm, that rebirth. My bones caught a never-ending chill; I’m haunted by the memory. I search among lost antiques to reclaim — to find — my lost, sophisticated identity in this melancholic epilogue.
