the facade of fake friends
They howl beneath the moonlit sky, A pack that feigns a loyal cry. With eyes that glint like shards of glass, They circle close, then swiftly pass. Their smiles sharp, like hidden fangs, In shadows where deception hangs. They walk beside you, step for step, But guard their secrets, slyly kept. In daylight’s glare, they seem so true, But in the dark, they hunt for you. Their laughter masks a hunger deep, A thirst that wakes when trust’s asleep. They scent your doubts, your quiet fears, Then pounce when weakness first appears. In whispers soft, they tear apart, The very threads that weave your heart. You think them friends, a loyal band, But wolves don’t play by your command. They prey on those who walk alone, In fields where seeds of doubt are sown. So heed the signs, the chilling air, When wolves pretend to truly care. For in their eyes, a hunger lies, And friendship’s mask is but a guise.
