The Facade
Was I ready? He's standing right in front of me, Smiling sadly as I take my final steps towards destiny. I rehearsed the walk, but the aisle seems endless now, A path that's leading me further away from my heart's vow. My father's whispers echo sweet nothings in my ear, But I'm tuned in to the beat of my own heart, loud and clear. The world fades into the background as I stand frozen in time, My heart thumping wildly, screaming for me to re-align. Guilt gnaws at my soul like a slow-moving disease, My heart chipping away, fragmenting with each hesitant breeze. The weight of expectation presses down upon my chest, A burden I'm not sure I'm ready to carry, or if I'll find rest. I'm trapped in this moment, torn between duty and desire, A silent scream building inside, a heart that's on fire. I'm in love with my groom's best man, a secret I've kept concealed, A truth that's threatening to shatter the facade, leaving me revealed.
