The Empty Room
Once I walked in Everything stopped. My cadence stopped My arm swing stopped. My mouth closed that was once agaped. My eyes shut that once glared. Once I walked in My heart wanted to beat faster. It stopped. I wanted my legs to keep moving. They betrayed me. I needed to see what kept my body From listening to its owner. My eyes wouldn't open. My mouth couldn't move to gasp for air. This room seemed full of something. My body was in a fight and flight response. I wanted to fight to keep moving But I kept losing and kept losing And kept losing. I started to feel my body. My eyes darting around while shut. My hands gripping the doorway Sending pain to my fingertips. My feet and toes inching closer and closer. My eyes started to open. My body felt less tense. I could walk forward it seemed. So I took a step I took another step. Then nothing happened. My heart stabilized and I felt great. My eyes started to scan the room. There was nothing. My hands reached for the ground. There was nothing. My feet started stomping to make noise. There was nothing. I felt nothing, sensed nothing, saw nothing heard nothing. And yet, for a few really long seconds My body betrayed me. I snapped. The class returned.
