The Ego's Quest...
Ego's flame, a burning fire, Drives souls, with heart's deep desire, To feed the pride, to soothe the pain, They chase validation, like summer rain. With every step, a test of might, They strive to rise, to shine so bright, Their worth measured, by external eyes, A fragile self, in endless surprise. But once the ego's thirst is quenched, They relax, their calm, like silence stenched, The mask of pride, it slowly fades, Revealing hearts, with love and shades. Yet, in this dance, of ego's sway, Love and affection, play a distant way, For in the end, it's ego's might, That rules the heart, and guides the light. In this pursuit, of self-esteem, Lies the truth, of human dream, No love, no bond, can surpass this test, For ego's satisfaction, is the ultimate quest.
