The Earthly Life I Long For
I long for the sea that beats against the shore, The salty smell that lingers in the breeze, And the birds that come from afar to warmer air. But I also long for the trees that sway with the wind, The smell of fresh pine filling my senses, And the birds that chirp in the sky. I long for many places and things, But what I long for most is a family. I want a family as calm and as raging as the sea, A family as diverse and as strong as the trees, A family as flexible and as adapting as the birds. A family as free as the wind, Isolated from the worries of this cruel world. But I know isolation leads to desolation, And I would never forgive myself if I led my family to ruin.
