The Distance Between
I thought we were friends, once so near, But now I feel nothing but fear. You moved so far, to a different land, Leaving me with an empty hand. You met someone, a love so new, A world I couldn’t walk into. I wanted peace, I wanted grace, But now I’m lost in empty space. I wanted to love her, I swear, But fear gripped me, trapped me there. Her life, her faith, I can’t embrace, I wonder if she’ll take my place. Your words came cold, no warmth to find, They echoed loud inside my mind. I reached for hope, but found it gone, A shadow where the light had shone. You left me broken, just a name, A ghost inside this endless game. I wonder if you’re happy now, While I’m still lost, I don’t know how. The sea of life just pulls me down, I try to swim, but I might drown. I search for peace, but it's so thin, A place to rest, a place to begin.
