"The day I faltered"
She bore the weight of silent scars, A past etched deep in shadowed bars. He reached with hands of gentle grace, To heal the wounds time can't erase. He whispered hope, a steady light, Promising to stand and fight. But fear crept in, a silent thief, Stealing courage, sowing grief. "I cannot stay," he said one day, "I'm scared my love won't light your way." He turned away, his heart in pain, Leaving her alone again. Three days passed, his mind a storm, Regret and longing took their form. He ran to her with open plea, "Forgive my doubt, come back to me." But trust once cracked is hard to mend, A broken heart slow to transcend. She looked at him with distant eyes, A love now lost beneath the lies. He tries each day to make amends, To show his love that never ends. But echoes of that fateful day, Haunt him in the light of gray. "What if I stayed?" he often cries, "Would we have reached the hopeful skies?" Now lessons learned through pain and strife, The cost of fear in love and life. -davenn
