The Darkness Sweeps
The darkness sweeps, where sunshine meets an end, Across landscapes of heavenly design; My supine soul submits itself to dreams, A restless night of sleep, another nightmare; At the break of the day, I'm pearled like grass, My deferred dreams remind me that I'm safe, A breath of fresh air to a heart's despair, From that abyss, so very like the dead; My soul remains as listless as the grave's, Where silent whispers love the earth's embrace, Offscouring, like darkness in the Sun's bright smile, The afternoon goes, and evening takes its stand. And succubi my dreams, a very dark night That promises, it's always tomorrow.
