The dark road
This road is made of teeth and tar, It chews my feet and calls it love. The sky above is just a scar, Where God bled out and left no dove. The air here tastes of rust and rot, Each breath I steal turns into debt. I walk with ghosts I never caught, They wear my face, they call me dead. My shadow hung itself that June Left me to carry both our graves. The trees are ribs, the wind a tune Played on bones the earth enslaves. There is no dawn. There never was. Just darker shades of endless night. I’m not the one who walks because I am the road, and I am the blight. Still no light at the end — just the road eating itself.
