the corner
Your curtains are drawn You stand in the far corner of your room Your back turned, head down Like a toddler in timeout You refuse to face the walls Because the grey colour scares you It's taunting, haunting Reminds you that you're rotting From the inside, outwards Your blood slithering southwards Dripping, skipping From the puddle on the floor You're wearing darkness Heartless You hear it more than your name But you're harmless Harnessed as the pawn To a bigger game Dressed yourself in shame Draped in misery and pain And you turn away The corner offers more warmth Than the place And you feel a tap on your shoulder Unmoving like a boulder And you hear the question "You do know you're only getting older?"
