The Commodity
The one commodity I need most- without it, no one's fine. It comes from those we hold so close, a complementary good to time; and as the most scarce necessity in the world I know time is hard to catch. I watched as down the drain it swirled, lost in life's game of fetch. Time's cousin, though, is what I desire, a different luxury known as attention. I feel I've lost it all to the fire, my hope is but a pretension. Though hard for me to give away, some days it feels harder to get. Should I just text them and say, "You're the closest friends I've met"? Or would that be attention seeking, a term, if we're honest, describes us all, or is this the point where profit is peaking, as we're sneaking closer to a call? That's all I ever wanted. That feeling of being wanted. I know God loves me so, but man was not made to be alone. Yet still I sit and ponder, and I know it seems petty, but my mind will continue to wander, while my heart will still feel empty.
