The chair by the window 😔💔
“The Chair by the Window” There’s a chair by the window that no one now fills, Once held by a soul who now walks the hills. The cushion remembers the weight of your form, The blanket still folded, forever warm. Your laughter still echoes in corners at night, Fading like stars when swallowed by light. I still set two plates at the table by habit, Then clear one away, like a ghost had come grab it. I kept your last note, smudged with old tears, Folded and tucked with our yesteryears. I wear your sweater when the night feels too long, Pretending your heartbeat still sings me a song. The world moved on like it always does— But mine slowed down the day I lost us. People say healing is letting you go, But I water your roses, take it painfully slow. Sometimes I speak, just to empty the air, To tell you I’m trying, though life feels unfair. And if love is a bond death cannot sever, Then you’re not gone… just gone for now— Not forever. — Jalilah Usna ✍🏽🖤
