The Boiling Pot
The Boiling Pot* by Jack A.S. Dunce Remember always to not force a thing: attention, friendship, and not love, for sure All things forced are not worth the mess they bring What flows flows, falls falls -- it's simple and pure To reach for dreams, there was hell to inure The toil of all the days dried out youth's spring Still, even the near future is unsure Remember always to not force a thing A few stayed when it was their turn to sing What they all now see is a useless boor Like flies, it is to the fruits that they cling Attention, friendship, and not love, for sure The best wines are those, in time, mature The cheap off the shelf ones just lack the zing They spoil and do not quite have the allure All things forced are not worth the mess they bring A stream dries and flows as the seasons swing It shapes land's contour like a skilled couture When it rains, it gets its way like a king What flows flows, falls falls -- it's simple and pure Don't jump at quick and hasty band aid cures Those instant pop solutions are like flings; They create trouble and do not endure Just let the pot boil to avoid burn stings... Remember always ©️pgmr 01/15/2024 *Inspired by an anonymous quote, "Lesson Learned"
