The Boat
I once tried to escape / But I missed the boat./ I was adrift / But managed to float./ I still go to that lake/ From time to time/ Get my toes a little wet./ Remember, it's fine. Turn around/ Oh but the lake, I yearn and it calls/ It's whispers may keep you forever enthralled / I made it out once, and sometimes I am grateful/ But often I still find myself at that lake/ just thinking./ lost in thought./ It whispers it fibs, tells you jokes and they sting./ Like a thousand bees, lather your skin/ And that's how it lures you in/ Herb in my lung dulls the night's starry eyes/ And fish of the lake are poisoned by blight/ I made it out twice and sometimes I'm hateful/ So I once again found myself back on that lake/ The things that made me were left behind./ Washed up ashore, it had left me blind/ Oh How'd I know? Oh was it fate?/ I'm always going to yearn for the lake./ When the stars call, and my walls have fallen / And my whole world can change with a blink / This is when I hear it calling/ And this time I'll make sure that I'll definitely sink/
